What makes you happy?

This is a question I have been pondering for the last year.

In my business life, happiness comes from completing challenges I set for myself. A challenge I’ll complete this week is writing a second article for my newsletter. The first article was easy; I had been writing it in my head for years, and on Thursday, when everyone reads this I’ll feel great for accomplishing my goal.

In my personal life, happiness comes from helping my friends achieve their dreams. Just last week though, my friends and family helped me achieve my dream of releasing my first e-zine.

I was worried about what everyone would think when I sent out my first article last week, but my worries quickly diminished with all of the positive feedback I received from my family, friends, and business partners. Thank you for your kind words and support.

“But my job stinks,” you cry. “I’ll never be able to accomplish my dreams.”

I challenge you to believe that if you change the way you think, you can make your job fun and fulfilling and develop relationships that will help you achieve your dreams.

If you don’t like your job, quit and find a new one. There are plenty of businesses hiring right now. However, whether you quit and find a new job, or just stay at the one you have, you won’t see much difference unless you change your attitude.

Challenge yourself with these 6 things and I guarantee you’ll enjoy going to work more everyday:

  1. Become the best at your job.
  2. Provide your employer with new ideas to help the business run more efficiently
  3. Ask you employer for more job responsibilities.
  4. Set challenges and goals for you and your company to accomplish.
  5. Accomplish the goals, celebrate the victories, and set new goals.
  6. Learn everything you can in your current position and use it as an opportunity for bigger responsibilities and paychecks
Next, you need to establish a support group. A support group can consist of family members, friends, and business partners. You should be willing to help those in your support group achieve their goals and dreams just as they are helping you.

My biggest fan and fiancée (whoop, whoop!!), Sara Langford, pushes me everyday to work at accomplishing my dreams. While many people I talk to laugh and rebuke my ideas, she supports my efforts and helps me be the best. Without her help, this newsletter would still be just an idea tossing in my head. Now, she’s made it a reality.

Find family and friends to help you set and accomplish your goals and dreams. Establish goals and dreams together. Work with each other, support each other, and celebrate every achievement.

Helping someone achieve their dreams, along with achieving your own, will help you live the happiest days of your life.

Top Five Items To Check Before Bringing Your Equipment In For Service

In order for a small engine to run correctly it needs 3 things:

1. Fuel
2. Air (Oxygen)
3. Ignition

Although some small engine problems can be complicated, there are a few items you can check before bringing your unit into our small engine technicians.

1. Correct starting procedures. Make sure you are using the correct starting procedures, as listed by the manufacturer’s operations manual. Not following these procedures could lead to problems in starting and operating your equipment.

2. Clogged Air Filter. Small engines need oxygen to operate. If your unit turns on and then quickly shuts down, it could be starved for air. If it starts, it probably has good ignition and fuel, but uses up the oxygen it can get quickly and shuts down. Check the air filter, it could be dirty or completely clogged.

3. Dirty spark plug. Having a dirty or wet (flooded from gas) spark plug can keep your unit from starting and running correctly. If dirty or black, you can sand away buildup with fine grit sandpaper. If wet, your can dry with air or a soft rag.

4. Low or No Oil. Making sure the correct oil level is in your engine is vital to operation and for getting the most life out of your engine. Always keep a close eye on your oil level and quality.

5. Contaminated fuel. Any fuel left in a small engine is not suitable for use after 30 days. Either drain and add fresh fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to old fuel.

These five items are not always the cause of small engine problems, but they can easily be fixed and should be checked first if you are having engine trouble. If you are not comfortable checking these items on your unit, or you are still having problems after checking these, please bring your unit to our small engine mechanics and the will look for other possible solutions.
